Why was CIMR established?

The Centre for Innovative Manufacturing Research (CIMR) at VIT Vellore stands at the forefront of cutting-edge research and technological advancement. This research centre was established to advance knowledge and nurture technically-grounded leaders and innovators to serve societal needs, with a focus on sustainable manufacturing, through an integrated multi-disciplinary research, collaboration between different industries, competitors, vendors and customers at solving tough commercial problems.

The CIMR research centre focusses on sustainable manufacturing through multidisciplinary collaboration. Built with state-of-the-art facilities and a commitment to excellence, the centre trains faculty and students to develop complex, technologically-intensive, and socially impactful solutions. CIMR dedicates itself to transforming ideas into reality, driving innovation, and contributing to a sustainable future, spanning from additive manufacturing to advanced material processing.

In addition, CIMR aims to train faculty and students in establishing world-class innovative manufacturing research with state-of-the-art facilities to meet the critical challenges and pursue excellence in research and industry interaction and lead the successful amalgamation of research in the areas of advanced manufacturing.
